New To Mining?

We understand setting up a crypto miner can feel a little daunting the first time you do it. Let us de-mystify things for you…

Miners need to be pointed at a mining pool (like this one) on the internet so they know where to look for blocks. You do this via a web page or an app, provided by your miner’s manufacturer.

Once you’ve located the config screen, you will be asked to provide three things: a) the pool URL; b) a Bitcoin Cash Address; c) a password.  We explain these things below… 

The Pool URL

This is the internet address of the server running our mining pool. All our infrastructure is based in the UK.   

Just copy the stratum URL exactly as we've written in the grey box below (including "stratum+tcp:" bit at the start, and the ":3333" at the end). Then paste it into the URL field of your miner. 

Stratum URL:
stratum+tcp://bch.britpool.com:3333

It will usually be the first field on your pool setup screen.  Take care to enter this correctly. If you get this field wrong, your miner wont connect to our mining pool.  

Username / Bitcoin Cash Address

This is your Bitcoin Cash address. It's used to send and receive funds, including any rewards for finding a block. Think of it as a bank account. It's important therefore you enter this correctly.

Your BCH address (e.g. qpafy4tg.....)

If you have more than one miner, you can append the address with ".BitAxe" or ".Nano" (or .anything you like) to enable you to monitor miners individually.

If you don't currently have a Bitcoin Cash Address, we recommend a mobile app called Exodus which will provide you with an address for free. We have no commercial association with the developer, Exodus Movement, Inc. We just really like the simplicity of their app. 

Password

This can be absolutely anything you like. We don't validate it or store it. Most people just enter "X" into this field.

Some miners allow you to enter parameters into this field, like "d=1000", which sets a custom "difficulty". Most miners (like, BitAxe) set difficulty automatically. If your miner doesn't (like the Nano 3S) we will set it for you when you start to mine. 

Unless you're an expert, just enter "X" into this field and don't worry about it.
