Check BritPool's integrity in real time

You don’t have to take a pool operator’s word for where your block rewards go. You can check it yourself in a couple of minutes using an open source tool. See below for details of what you can verify and how to do so.

What You Can Verify

This tool validates our pool from a number of different angles.

You get 100% of the reward

The tool validates that 100% of the block reward is paid to you. The reward transaction will show a single payout, made to your address.

You pay zero pool fees

If BritPool were skimming a fee, the tool would show a second payout (the pool fee) and a reduced payout to the miner. The tool shows zero fees.

Real BCH work

The tool uses real, live BCH work. You can validate this by checking the block height against the public Bitcoin Cash blockchain.

Unique work

The tool ensures every miner gets unique work. No two tests duplicate each other's efforts.

Security

Optionally, the tool validates that the connection to port 3334 is encrypted with a valid certificate for the stratum bch.britpool.com.

Open source

The validation tool is open source. You can freely inspect the code on GitHub.

This validation tool was originally written by Matt Weinberg. All credit goes to Matt. It’s a cracking piece of work which by design supports Bitcoin only.

We’ve forked Matt’s original repo and added support for Bitcoin Cash. You can see our fork and review the changes we’ve made to enable Bitcoin Cash support on GitHub here.

How to Verify

To use the validation too, you will need a computer with Python 3 and Git installed – typically macOS, Linux or Windows WSL. There is nothing else to install.

Launch your Terminal window and copy/paste the following three commands, taking care to enter your own BCH address in command 3.

This will copy the tool to your computer and execute it once.

git clone https://github.com/IanWesterGitHub/stratum-speed-test.git
cd stratum-speed-test
python3 verify_pool.py bch.britpool.com 3334 YOUR-BCH-ADDRESS --tls

Take care to enter your BCH address correctly. This should be the same address your miner uses. The tool supports the following address formats: bitcoincash:q…,q… and1…

We suggest you copy and paste your BCH address — don’t try to retype it.

If your miner doesn’t support TLS encryption, swap port 3334 for 3333 and just remove the –tls bit from the end of the last command.

Please feel free to run the tool at any time and as often as you wish.
